Why EbolaWare?

Seriously? Ebola? How insensitive!

A decade ago (2006), my best friend and I were sitting, laughing, and discussing infectious diseases. We came up with plenty of them, then "C" remembered the Ebola Virus. After quite the discussion, we correlated the fact that software and viruses have a common theme. So the handle EbolaWare was born from computer viruses being software and how powerful one would have to be in order to be dubbed EbolaWare.

General facts:

While this website has nothing to do with the hashtag, #EbolAware that spawned as a result of the 2014 outbreak, I do admire the disease for what it is. In case you haven't heard of it, or just don't think it's a big deal, you ought to crawl out from under that little rock of yours and do a little research. I'm sure the media blew everything out of proportion when we flew those infected people back to the United States. But it is an incredibly effective virus.
It's so effective that the virus will kill you before you are able to spread it very far. The only reason that one of the 5 strains of the Ebola Virus has not literally wiped out the planet is because it only spreads via contact with bodily fluids. Plus, only 4 of them actually affect humans. If you are infected by a contaminated needle, you are almost twice as likely to die from the disease. It is also important to note that infections have occurred in remote and rural areas in Africa, with burial customs that cause those family members who perform the burial rite to come in direct contact with the victim's ...bowels. So, given these facts, who knows how many other crazy diseases are out there, quietly destroying people from the inside out, and just are not being spread because of those people's customs.
Outbreaks are so infrequent that the "natural reservoir host" is still unknown. Though, it is widely believed to be a species of bat. Remember: bat scat is bad, mm'kay?
Ebola has only been to the United States a few times, and 2014 was the only time it was intentional.

Viruses

Generally, when something is discovered, it is named after the place it was discovered or the person who discovered it... The Ebola Virus was named after the Ebola River, which probably hasn't been much of a tourist destination since 1976.

AND DON'T WORRY!!! You probably don't have Ebola. Check the site for proof:

For now, be curious. Never stop learning. Always ask, "why?"
